Looking for advice for a new child car seat or need to find resources to reduce parenting stressors? Reach for your mobile device and check out Atlanta-based Privet by KidsLink, a newly launched app that allows users to talk to other parents in their neighborhood, near the phone’s current location or across the globe.
Using the power of mobile connectivity, Privet harnesses the power of social media to tackle the hardest job ever – raising great kids – in a safe, bully-free zone.
Expanding the family
Privet is the newest product launched by CEO Chris Morocco, who has gathered a team of other parents to create this companion to KidsLink, a free app for parents to securely track and share information on their kids and stay connected with close friends.
KidsLink provides a central location to store, organize and responsibly share their children’s milestones and memories. Documents like birth certificates, report cards, immunization reports and photos can be stored there.
Since privacy of these items is of utmost importance, when the team wanted to add a more public component and create a sense of community within the app, they thought twice about making it an add-on feature and decided instead to create Privet as a sister app.
Moms (and dads) welcome
Most discussion group products for parents are geared to moms, but not Privet. Recognizing that parenting is a team sport, Privet welcomes dad’s input as well. The goal is to create a platform where all people can connect authentically, in real time.
“We wanted to find a way for people to connect that encourages genuine, human interaction in a way that matters,” said KidsLink chief marketing officer and Privet co-founder Titania Jordan.
With a strict no-troll policy, the creators monitor the content to ensure that people are using the format in a way that is helpful.
Looking to the future
Having spent several years launching and developing early stage companies, Morocco spent the last decade in franchising. But he was eager to get back into technology, particularly business to consumer products.
The company is in the process of raising additional seed capital and hopes to close on a Series A round in the next six to 12 months. Jordan believes the format can be adapted for other verticals, in addition to parenting, in the future.
Privet by KidsLink app is a free download on iTunes and Google Play.
